A day of junk food A.K.A. Mr. R's birthday!

Birthdays are a big deal in our home. There are certain priveilages the birthday boy/girl has and they also get a bit of a break from many of their responsibilities. One of the big ways we celebrate is by letting the child choose the menu for the day. After breakfast Mr. R set a bit of a pattern in the food choices he made.
Breakfast was chocolate chip pancakes, that was easy enough and though we put plenty of chocolate chips in the pancakes were made with our regular whole wheat recipe. So that meal was not too bad. Then came lunch, cheesy pigs-in-a-blanket and cheetos. Ugh, the cheesy little smokies, cheese (not so bad) and biscuits from the tube. He LOVED it!

Rob worked from home so that he could take breaks to do special things with Mr. R. In the morning just the two of them went to the back yard for some knife throwing practice. Mr. R had mentioned several times that he would like to have some time with daddy to practice (he also wanted some of his own throwing knives, but we were not ready for that).

We set up the bounce house for him during nap time, so he got to do that and then watch a DVD that he received for his birthday. It was such a pretty day that he did not have too much trouble talking daddy into taking everyone down to the corner market to get ice cream. It was a fun walk and we all enjoyed the cool treat.

Then we came too dinner. Macaroni and cheese, cheesy hot dogs, and leftover cheetos. Can you tell our boy likes cheese?

I was impressed with his choice of cake though. He chose the molten lava cakes that I had made a couple of months ago. Those were simple and tasty!

Ugh! We were all feeling a bit sick that evening (and the next day) from all of the junk food, but it was a fun day and we all enjoyed celebrating with Mr. R! He brings so much joy to our lives!
